Oberli is more interested in the interplay of her characters than a barbed look at geopolitics, an approach that clicks only to a point in this well-performed but overlong and uneven feature.

It's an engaging, mostly well-acted tale, full of surprising twists, even if some seem a bit too on the nose.

It loses emotional momentum with each new section.

Still, a busy third act that features... several other emotionally charged moments help close things out on a more affecting note.

Despite the sometimes rickety scaffolding they're asked to inhabit, all of the actors deliver honest, grounded performances.

[Wanda's] character is underwritten, which makes it not as interesting a drama.

As everything comes to a head, the film’s comical and combative vibes gives way to a overarching sense of sadness and uncertainty.

Well paced and energetic, My Wonderful Wanda picks just the right moments to introduce real emotion into the mix.

The economic criticism is leavened by satire and humor, such that everybody gets ribbed at some time. Marvelous ensemble agilely switches from dramatic to comic reaction.

Agnieszka Grochowska deserves praise for her eponymous role, but the film is chiefly an ensemble triumph.
