"O filme é baseado em uma história real de Chris Higgins exibida originalmente no programa This American Life." Uma história um conto um tanto quanto triste, retratada de forma divertida e leve, tornando-a menos densa e intensa quanto verdadeiramente deve ter sido para o protagonista, fiquei na curiosidade, gostaria de saber como eles estão agora, que verdadeiramente uma doença muito difícil de ser enfrentada...

This movie is an interesting plot that captures how hard it truly can be to find love in this world. The two leads do a great job of carrying this simple plot to the best of their abilities.

As might be expected from a movie based on a This American Life story, ODE TO JOY is charming, funny and impactful in about equal measure. The challenges of cataplexy resonate far beyond the particularities of the condition, and the film's understated approach makes the comedic touches all the more hilarious.

I admit it, I only watched this because Morena was in it and I really loved watching her in the Endgame currently out. The concept is interesting, though if that condition is real, there should be a medication to suppress it as they do for depression which is the opposite. Then thinking about it, it's similar to Narcolepsy but triggered when you're happy...so couldn't they take medication for that condition since the symptoms are same? Falling asleep when happy, that is deadly to any intimate relationship. Well if you like watching unattractive men get girls way above their reach, this is the show for you. Everyone needs a little hope once and a while, gives hope to the hopeless...for the length of the runtime anyhow.

I think I'd watch anything with Martin Freeman.

Found it very enjoable. Prob might watch it again. Really liked the acting and the writing. Personally I didn't really see what the guys saw in Francesca...other than she is just hot? Bethany seemed much more interesting, with her various interests, I felt a bit sad for her.

I love Martin Freeman and it's so refreshing to see him as a romantic lead. He's not traditionally handsome, but I find him so attractive--it might just be his demeanor--and I simply enjoy watching him perform. All of that aside, this movie follows most of the formula you'd expect a romantic comedy to follow. It's not groundbreaking. The concept of the protagonist dealing with this rather debilitating illness is fine, but it's executed in a very "Hollywood" manner. Nevertheless, I liked watching the two leads. Their growing chemistry was enjoyable. It doesn't surprise me that the audience score is higher than the critics' score. It's a perfectly enjoyable movie, but the sort of movie many critics would turn their noses up at simply because the movie aspires to be nothing more than a romantic comedy. If you are a normal person with normal sensibilities, you'll enjoy this movie.

While not horrible, the film proved kind of boring. And the characters were hard to root for.

I am someone who actually has narcolepsy with cataplexy, and I didn't make it pass the wedding scene to be totally disappointed! The hardest thing about narcolepsy with cataplexy is feeling alone and misunderstood, these Hollywood movies making jokes out of narcolepsy, and not getting it right,is why we will continue to be misunderstood and taken as a joke!
