Operation Golden Phoenix

Truly shocking disregard for practically every aspect of film-making. This is terrible, so much so it wouldn't take much adapting to make it into a parody of the action genre.

19. Operation Golden Pheonix – Directed Produced and Starring Jalah Merhi. This movie was hilariously bad with really bad editing and direction. The dialogue was corny and cliché and the fights scenes were ok but with the editing being so atrocious it was jarring to watch. Loren Avedon and James Hong are hilarious but I felt that they were over directed and usually put in better performances. This was Jalah Merhi’s directorial debut and was interesting to watch but hilariously bad. The weird thing is that deleted and extended scenes were shown while the credits rolled. It still didn’t help but was something I’ve never really seen done like that before. Best part is when he miraculousy goes through the pole in the dam fight scene. *On a side note why do some VHS tapes have the weird white screen with a beeping noise at the end of the tape?

Suspect plot, dodgy fight scenes, bad acting, this film has them all. The adverts in the middle of this film (on Channel 5 surprise, surprise) were a relief from the genuine awfulness. Its only redeeming feature is the reappearance of Cassandra's dad from Wayne's World 2 (I'm really scraping the barrel here!) Avoid it!

This is the most worst martial arts-treasure hunt movie that director-martial arts star Jalal Merhi made.
