Orphan: First Kill

, 77% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe twist this story gives make you feel bad for the "bad guy", the true evil at play is an overprotective mother and her sheltered boy, more sinister than the original.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsReally solid start and middle of this film disappointing ending very predictable, the original film was better but it's worth a watch wouldn't say this is a horror film. Overall 7/10
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsA pretty satisfying sequel. Lena is one creepy ‘little' girl. I was not expecting the last third of the movie to unfold as it did. Absolute bonkers…violence, blood and gore abound! If you liked the original you should like this one, well worth a watch.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsWell after 13 years they made another one to my amazement Kinda odd cause I’m not quite sure anyone was asking for this but here we are The first ‘Orphan’ came out in 2009 and starred child actress Isabelle Fuhrman playing the central villain She co-starred with Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard playing two parents with 2 children Both of them were looking to adopt a third to get past their trauma of suffering a miscarriage It seemed at first like a miracle they managed to adopt a girl named Esther from Estonia but it turned out to be a nightmare Turns out Esther was actually a grown woman with a condition of dwarfism posing as a child and was mentally unstable killing every family in a vicious cycle The family minus the father managed to escape her murderous rage at the end but here viewers get to trace the beginnings of her insane bloodlust This prequel focuses on Esther’s mother played by Julia Stiles finally reuniting with her after a long search when she went missing All seems fine at first but of course we know better that Esther is up to no good making her malicious intentions clear to spill blood to keep her secret It's actually in many respects done better than the original movie The last one was mixed by fans and critics for being too long and maybe not being able to get on board with the reveal I thought it was fine for what it was Truly this has a lot of twists and turns I wasn't anticipating Isabelle Fuhrmann still gives a wickedly disturbing performance and the filmmakers use some nice tricks to make the actress look like the child she’s emulating And I actually like Julia Stiles in this, it's a darker turn for her Good pacing too getting to the good stuff I also appreciated it setting the stage for things to come Maybe digging more into Esther’s backstory would have been beneficial seeing why she snapped so early being institutionalized but Fuhrmann still delivers playing this unsettling antagonist This is a much better installment I’m happy to say
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsEsse Filme É Incrível, Eu Sou Fã Do Filme A Órfã (2009) Desde 2015 Amei Muito Essa Sequência ❤❤
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsRidiculous! Absolutely ridiculous! This movie looks and feels like a soap opera. How could "Esther" take down a grown man at the sanitarium and then a grown woman, but then later on she has trouble taking down a middle aged mom and a teenage son?!?! Does not make sense. Also are the cops in this movie just flat out dumb, how could they not take finger prints and blood work the moment they found "Esther"?! Again doesn't make sense! Lastly the big twist feels like something that the writers copied and pasted from a soap opera - this whole film just feels off. Would give this film zero, the only reason I'm giving it 1 star is for Isabella Fuhrman. She gives an amazing performance even with the weak script she's been given. So in closing, if you're into soap opera; then by all means, give this one a go. But if you're looking for horror, give this one a pass. Final verdict: 1 star.

- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars"Orphan: First Kill" is about as good as a follow-up to a film can be when the story relies heavily on the shock value of the twist. In this movie, there's no secret about that big reveal, so for a long time, I thought it would just play out in a similar way just as a prequel. I give the movie props for taking a genuinely surprising direction and featuring some clever twists of their own. The movie isn't as scary or thrilling as the first, but I think it is campy and violent fun that fans of the first can find enjoyment in. Isabelle Fuhrman is great as Esther, but it is a bit odd seeing the actress much older yet playing the character in events that take place before the original film. I think they do a good enough job of making it convincing enough, but there are moments where it was a bit distracting. I did like how in this movie instead of being afraid of Esther, I actually found myself rooting for her at times, which makes a lot more sense when you see the movie play out. Overall, the movie is fun and entertaining to watch and I think as far as prequels go, it is one of the better ones, despite some technical flaws and just generally being not as good as the original film.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIsabelle Fuhrman gives another amazing performance. Creepy and suspenseful with a wonderful twist!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsJust as good as the original. I hope they come up with a 3 movie.
