Padre Pio
audience Reviews
, 40% Audience Score- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI know the story of St. Padre Pio relatively well, and the trailer tells much more about it than the movie itself. Two stories with almost no connection. Anyone who doesn't know about the post-World War I scenario in Italy and the story of Padre Pio will finish the movie knowing the same thing. Sad.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI think this movie was deeper than most people appreciate. I thought the Padre Pio performance was "period appropriate" for post WWI. His hauntings from the demonic were stunning.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThe decision to circumnavigate its titular character makes one wonder why this movie was ever made in the first place.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI give this movie a generous 1 star. It gives little to no insight into who Padre Pio was or why he became a saint. There is a separate story being told that appears to have nothing to do with padre pio. The second story is dark, depressing and boring. If your suffering from insomnia I recommend you watch padre pio.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsIt felt like 2 movies in 1. Very sloppy. Shia's performance is very good but was limited while the movie tried to balance another story. We still don't know too much about Padre Pio after seeing the film. If the movie was just about Padre Pio, it would have been much better.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsConfusing. Not really much about the life and ministry of the priest.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsVery well acted and beautifully shot. However it seemed like a waste of Shia's talent. He only had about 14 minutes of screen time where he was doing the same 3 things and he spoke mostly in Latin. It depicted very little about who Pio Padre was and what made him special. The dialog also seemed to not match the time and location, I don't think people said "you know" in every sentence like people do now. The lazy script writing took me out of the drama at times - it was not believable. This movie could have been so much better if it was written and featured the main actor.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved it. Acting was on point. Good story line about internal struggles.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsSo Hollywood is all about representation these days, but when it's time to make a movie about an Italian priest, they put the very american Shia LaBeouf to intepret him. One star only for the pathetic double standard.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThe movie was far too hard to follow. Seemingly didn't have a story and no real ending.
