Occupation: Rainfall

A huge amount of special effects sequences on such limited budget...but it's rubbish.

On a purely technical level it delivers the goods pretty effectively; there are enough explosions and flying bodies to pass muster.

Sometimes even cheesy movies can be a perfect distillation of the zeitgeist.

Rainfall comes some way short of success, but it looks beautiful and tries hard...

With strong central performances and blockbuster-level visual effects, Occupation: Rainfall is a hugely entertaining viewing experience.

If Occupation was Red Dawn but Strayan, Occupation: Rainfall is Independence Day and the post-apocalyptic bits of The Terminator, but Strayan.

It is high octane fast paced from start to finished. Through all the action you are likely to miss a few key details if you lose attention even for a moment.

Occupation: Rainfall's basic plot and cheesy effects hinder the Australian sci-fi epic's potential despite a good cast and solid ideas.

You have to admire Sparke's ambition; the fact that he was able to pull off something flawed but on a grand scale, full of space dogfights, explosions and lasers, is to be applauded. Full review in Spanish.

Laaving aside all the battles and explosions, Occupation: Rainfall is actually a story about never losing hope, about holding on till the bitter end and fighting for the greater good. Way superior than your average CGI alien invasion flick.
