The film is an exemplar of its genre, one that honors its forebears while also acknowledging and attempting to correct their more glaring faults.

It’s definitely the best DCOM we’ve seen in a while and one of the best teen rom-coms of the last decade.

It won’t join the ranks of other better teen movies of this age, like Lady Bird, Booksmart, Eighth Grade or Plan B, but it’s still a fun time, especially if you enjoy the movies that inspired it.

The actors have genuinely good chemistry and it’s focused on their platonic friendship, no strings attached. There’s a lot of fun references to 80s movies, but in a way that both pays homage and is critical of things that didn’t work back then.

The story felt like a half-gender flip on Olivia Wilde’s fantastic debut feature, ‘Booksmart,’ except it doesn’t stay true to its subversive elements and ends up with a trite conclusion that doesn’t sit right.

Prom Pact is fun from start to finish. Reminiscent of the 80s rom-com with some modern touches.
