Queen of Spades

This movie is a masterclass in how to make every misstep possible with a generic horror film. Every scene is slow and morose with no change in mood or energy scene to scene. The acting is terrible, the plot ridiculous. At one point, there is a memorial for a young kid and they only have about 10 people present in an empty room. They didn't even give the kid a last name. There is literally a sign stating "in memory of Matthew." No last name. I laughed out loud. Watch it with friends and rip it apart. But don't expect the movie to entertain you.

Boring and derivative.

Surprisingly decent performances from the cast, well, aside from the actress who played Anna's mother, performing her role in Xanax mode. The storyline is weak and well worn and the film is filled with endless filler due to lack of an effective script. Speaking of the script, I think they forgot one. Despite decent performances, pretty much a waste of time.

I'm not usually a fan of horror movies, but this wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it, good storyline.

I see what they wanted to do...but everything is uninteresting! It's just scene after scene without having a real deeper meaning to the story. It's not scary, the death scenes are boring, and the queen of spades is really not the queen of horror vilains!

Very fun, lot's of scares!

Lots of suspense and great story. An old myth updated for today - very relatable.

Scary AF. Had to watch it during the day in between zoom calls.

Great film, direction and production. The performances by the two female leads (mother and daughter) as well as the best friend were especially noteworthy. They really let the quiet tension hang there.

Made me squirm and jump. Dark storyline, Anna the lead was great, lots of twisted and gruesome moments. Won't look at mirrors the same way again! Worth the watch for sure.
