Resurrection

It’s a full-on movie that is not for the faint-of-heart.

Hall, with a great assist from Roth, manages to sell the ending through sheer thespian skill... producing something that lingers for days in the mind like a bad, grisly dream, and also says something profound about the scars left by abusive relationships.

Resurrection is an unapologetically weird film, an anxiety engine that tightens like the spring of a wind-up toy for 100 minutes without ever slowing down or letting go.

The more Resurrection strays from real-world trauma and violence, the less effective it becomes.

Hall’s progressive insanity unfolds effortlessly, reminiscent of Isabelle Adjani in Possession and Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby.

I didn't really buy it, and it just went completely off the rails.

Resurrection subtly inserts the subject into its story and departs from something very universal. But then it progresses into a story direction that takes trauma to another level and gives shape to a character resolution that will blow your mind.

A bit of Andrzej Żuławski’s Possession mixed with the disorientation of The Vanishing. And Rebecca Hall? Better than ever before.



Rebecca Hall gives an unhinged & INCREDIBLE performance within #Resurrection. One that should establish her as one of the best actresses working today. She has one monologue in this that completely had me glued to the screen.
