Masterpiece. It is beautifully made film and it has a very deep meaning in it. The quest of one man's struggle to find spiritual enlightenment by renouncing the world. And one woman's struggle to keep her enlightened love. But destiny has other plans for both of them.

One of the best movie dealing with the issue of desires. It doesn't give you a straight answer but leave everything to your interpretation and imagination( obviously).

Samsara is beyond pretty visuals though that's the first thing you notice. There is a story and a connection between every image in this movie which is a sequel to the similarly made Baraka in 1992. From Tibetian Buddhist retreats to the sprawling freeways of Los Angeles, from pictures of a tattooed hulking giant cuddling his baby to sex dolls being mass produced Samsara will at once shock and humble you. This documentary is universally admired, and you should definitely give it a shot. If you love photography than this is a must watch.(Pretty pictures with underlying themes).

It's a good movie on a very good subject , very well narrated ....!! Beautiful scenic locales but somehow after reading Pal nalin's words regarding camera work , cinematography , I really had high hopes about the visual content of the movie, that really fell flat .!! The editing could have been more clean .but still Thumbs Up to Nalin for choosing such a subject in such a location ..!!! it was wanted

    - 'How can one prevent a drop of water from ever drying up?' - 'By throwing it into the sea.'

It has an exotic, mystical feel to it along with majestic scenery and a humble, simple countryside/mountain dwelling aspect, which I'm sure appeals to the demographic of western (or even international), city living audiences that go in for that sort of thing. It certainly appealed to me in that respect. A spiritual journey, but also a nice, not overly sanguine love story. Great movie.

A Buddhist monk returns from a year-long hibernation to the Tibetan monastery. As he is slowly getting back to normal life, he suddenly experiences sexual urge, which doesn't pass unnoticed by his fellows, the head of the monastery sends the monk to experience the facets of life not yet known to him. The monk meets a beautiful girl and they both fall in love with such a passion that her former fiancee himself understands that he doesn't stand a chance and arranges for their wedding. The monk settles with his wife, engages in corn-growing and quickly improves the village's corn-selling business. A non-local girl, however, seduces him. Even in spite of his wife's willingness to forgive him, he regrets his sinful nature, as he sees it, and returns to the solitary life of religious seclusion. His wife apparently disapproves of him, because she thinks going on with the happy life they had would be a better credit to the heavens. A lyrical hymn to the richness of the life in its fullness.
