A solid plot, it's well put together, good script and great casting. It's an easy and enjoyable watch.

A new take on the end of the world story with some very dark humour that might not come across to some viewers. great pacing and action set pieces give the film a fresh feel and a run time that feels short but compact and surprisingly not stupid with character's that do what you would in the situation

this movie was great! it really isn't as much like lord of the flies as people said. i think the main reason that people are disappointed is that there were no zombies or monsters or radiation or blight in this movie. they also do not spend any time at all explaining what happened, they just jump straight to "almost everyone is dead", so that may have ruffled some feathers, but i think it was a deliberate choice which was meant to sort of mock or discard the idea that every new apocalypse movie has to have some kooky new gimmick. this movie is about 99% of humans dying suddenly due to a pandemic, and the ensuing conflict between fledgling factions. many of the kids are really great at acting, and the writing and direction were very solid. the movie can be a bit visually dark, but in general i thought it was very well done. many people have complained that during the action scenes, everything was a bit unclear. i think that's because this is a very realistic movie - people have good ideas and also make mistakes, and i thought the school uniforms were a very nice touch given that you often can't see who killed who until the camera and lighting focus to show the color of the person's shirt (if it's not white, its a baddie). anyways, this isn't movie of the year, it's not a teen scream or a zombie movie, and it doesnt have any cannibals or cordyceps, but it's very worthwhile. it just suffered because people wanted to have some monsters or aliens featured.
