Fury of the Gods was a pleasant surprise. If you enjoyed the first Shazam movie the sequel will not disappoint. The sequel continues the theme of family and the ever challenging struggles of family growing apart as a family becomes more dynamic. The movie also revs up the action from the first movie. The 3rd act is definitely fun and action packed. Additionally, the ending leaves the future of the Shazam character in the new DCU up in the air. Overall, the movie is not genre changing, but it is lots of fun and worth the money to go see it.

'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' is a decent family friendly superhero flick despite being overstuffed and convoluted at the same time.

DC keeps embarrassing themselves by trying too hard to be Marvel. The characters are not developed - we don't know who these people are, the jokes aren't funny, and the stories are disjointed. The doors in the movie look like Toy Story, the books and pens are straight out of Harry Potter - DC please do something interesting and original. They even try to assert the decades old naming rights of Captain Marvel but unless you are a DC zealot you don't even understand why they called Shazam Captain Marvel. Even a cameo from a popular DC hero is contradictory. Is she a god or isn't she? DC you have so much good material. Get your act together please.
