Smile is a high budget horror flick distributed by the movie-making giant Paramount and starring Kevin Bacon's daughter! Sosie Bacon is the lead protagonist, Dr. Rose Kotter...🎶 welcome back 🎶.... I would have given this movie 5 stars but because it has so many good things going for it and it was too big to fail from the git go and...oh, this is Parker Finn's directing debut so I should be nice? Nope, Paramount dished out big $$$ promoting this movie so no, it gets graded on a curve. Bottom line, the movie is awesome! but it was made from the best components that money can buy so you can't blame cost cutting for the problems. Ok, Smile is another psychological horror. Like literally it has placed another psychiatrist as the lead protagonist. And childhood trauma is the blame for bad things happening again.🥱 This movie is based on the short film Laura Hasn't Slept (also made by Parker Finn) but it follows the same formula as The Ring, that is, the ex-boyfriend with access to classified information helps move the story forward trope. Kal Penn, who plays Rose's boss, is older and fatter now. The monster is a featureless giant that the movie crew named Lollipop but it's ok if you just wanna call it Mr. Smiley. It hides within hallucinations of people making the "hide the pain Harold" face. Once you see its true form it's too late and you're S.O.L.. Don't grow too attached to the cat; it only plays a small part.

7/10 Perfection in every frame ...!!! From its haunting visuals to its spine-tingling soundtrack, "SMILE" delivers a truly unsettling experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. The heroine battles her own inner demons while confronting the malevolent force that torments her. Supporting character provide both moral support and skepticism, adding layers of tension and uncertainty to the narrative. The performances of the supporting cast are commendable, effectively enhancing the overall sense of fear and unease. One of the most impressive aspects of the film is the use of plenty of drone shots and long wide angle shots that heighten the tension and amplify the psychological impact of the story. The film's sound design plays a crucial role in intensifying the horror. From the haunting whispers that echo through empty corridors to the jarring sound effects that accompany each terrifying encounter, the auditory experience of "SMILE" is unsettling to the core. The score, composed by a master of suspense, expertly builds suspense and unease, enhancing the overall sense of dread throughout the film. "SMILE" jumps into themes of trauma, mental health, and the power of the subconscious mind. Through its chilling narrative, the film explores the devastating effects that unresolved trauma can have on an individual's psyche. The symbolism of the smiling man represents the inner demons and fears that lurk within us all, and the film serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of facing one's past. "SMILE" is a must-watch horror film for fans of psychological thrillers that takes you on a haunting journey into the darkest corners of the human mind.

Predictable, Basically just jump scares that you could see coming. A regurgitated storyline basically adding nothing to the panthenon of horror movies. A weak version of It Follows, or the Wish websites version of The Ring.

FINALLY! A horror flick with some feel and some genuine scares. Lead actress made her future in this one. It has literally been decades since I've jumped multiple times in my seat watching a horror film. The ending was disappointing but linear with the plot. Minus half a star cuz they killed the cat.

Not much of a horror fan but this one is a keeper. Not exactly what I expected but it turned out pretty clever & impressive for me & it was legit scary. I had a great time feeling uncomfortable here.

Amazingly horrifying movie that makes you play the tormenting mind game of, "what if that were me."

Same formulaic with The Ring but somehow original in execution. I'll be not surprised if any follow up is on the works anytime.
