Although it is very cheesy and definitely not a "cult classic" or anything of the sort, it has the charm of a Spirit Halloween store, a great movie to watch if you enjoy Spirit Halloween and B-rated comedy horrors. Great use of mainly practical effects and uses a lot of their own merchandise which is nice if you love the stores as much as i do! Even if you don't like the stores or that, it's definitely a laugh to see how some points are cliché.

You'd think it'd be impossible but they did it A movie based on the popular costume shop The only recognizable stars are Rachel Leigh Cook and Christopher Lloyd himself The movie opens in the early 1940s with Lloyd as a man owning the deed to a woman's orphanage She then retaliates by cursing him and his soul for eternity Cut to present day on Halloween a couple of middle school friends are debating whether to still go trick r treating or just go to a college party But they are unaware an evil spirit possesses the various costumes when they step inside the Spirit Halloween store The movie attempts to make the most of its limited setting But it does have a charm to it much like an episode of 'Goosebumps' It's safe, harmless and gets itself out of the way Lloyd doesn't have much of a screen presence to leave an impact though The young stars never really get to act their age they're supposed to convey Hugely forgettable with clunky writing But the film is short and will provide a worthy distraction for the kiddies in the spooky season Minor lessons too encompassing relevant tween topics like the different rates that childhood friends grow and mature and adjusting to life in a blended family

Those seeking a family-style ghost story around Halloween will find some treats within "Spirit Halloween" as a film. It's a great concept that feels familiar, such as a Disney midday film or an episode of Goosebumps. Mostly, it's harmless fun, and the film's setting, location, and atmosphere are terrific; the same could be said about the young actors who also do well here. However, the film also plays a fun trick on its audiences, particularly surrounding actor Christopher Lloyd, who has been marketed as a leading actor but is hardly in the movie apart from a key opening scene. In the end, combined with a few pleasing factors and disappointments, including the film's weak finale and watching our leads bicker too often, it's still passable as a family feature.

Overall this was a good movie but I don't think it should be rated PG-13.

Who else thought that a costume store would get it’s own movie????
