Star Yoon gives Ian an appealing everyman quality, even as he's taking out multiple henchmen, and there are some exciting, well-crafted car chases and shootouts.

Once we stop thinking about the craziness of the plot and the body swap mechanic, we get treated to a fun thriller with strong action.

Writer-director Yoon Jae-geun is onto a really interesting idea here. Spiritwalker plays like a mash up of The Bourne identity, Memento (minus the tattoos), and The Hangover (minus the humour).

Spiritwalker is a cleverly shot thriller equally comfortable with body-swap gags and close-up fistfights.

From the jump, it has you off-center, unsure of what's going on, with details coming out a trickle at a time. Given time, answers come and with such rapid-fire speed and depth that you'll almost wish more mystery remained.

This is the kind of film that the eyes cannot stray from or something will be missed. Its also the kind of film that gains from being watched more than once.
