The movie is designed to be infuriatingly enigmatic (i.e.the main character clearly has an arc, but we're never directly told what changes about her) and while I understand criticisms of that choice I don't believe that it undermines the compelling narrative or direction. If anything, its a movie that demands further study rather than just superficial examination.

I loved this. Depth of a quality short story.

I didnt enjoy it as much as I thought I would her chasing her brother around and following her running was annoying , I saw many close ups of her face looking pinched and running, not listening to her other cast members and just taking off all over the place , it seemed strange that she chases a brother she didnt know she had and then not listen to him give her advice, a big bore for me

In his second picture Hungarian star director László Nemes has become a hostage of his own directorial method, adapted from the great first movie 'Son of Saul'. Where first-person close-ups were helping greatly to tell the story situated in a closed space of a nazi camp in previous movie, this time it is sometimes just makes the activities of the main hero unexplainable. The film is longer than the predecessor too, which makes you feel vertigo closer to the end, giving this specific shooting technique. Though beautifully staged, it also lacks a script clarity, which doesn't help at all. Sadly, the second attempt of Nemes is way less successful than the first.

Basically thought she was looking for her brother. Seemed to just wander around alot, leaving us too wander with her. The back of her head was mostly seem.

I'm a bit flummoxed by every review. Is it really possible that no one realized the movie is an allegory? Watch the theatrical trailer - the clearest lines are in it.

Don't ask me what this movie is about. I still don't know, maybe something leading up to world war 1.

This movie is extremely intriguing and, like a good theatre play, leaves a lot for the mind to fill in. You truly feel that you're a part of that era as the operator takes you between locations.

I love Independent films, but definitely not this one. This is a dark directionless 2.5 hour film. The film has no depth, understanding or conclusion.
