The Addams Family 2

There are references to pop culture landmarks (Jaws, Easy Rider) but the screenplay, the work of four writers, lacks sparkle and a little of it goes a long way.

Nothing can change the fact that it's yet another example of Hollywood cannibalising its own in its eagerness to keep up the flow of franchises on which the studios rely these days for their sustenance.

I had to go back to my notes to remind myself what even happened in the film. The answer is not much.

With the exception of Kroll's gravelly intoned Uncle Fester, the voicework is sketchy, with Theron's Seven-Sisters elocution bordering on sacrilege.

I did not like The Addams Family 2. I did not like it at all. And that's all I have to say on the matter.

It may be a heavily commercialised, diet-goth take on Charles Addams's single-panel cartoons, first published in The New Yorker in 1938, but it's stayed faithful where it matters most.

The Addams Family 2 feels more like a commercial product churned out with minimal effort instead of a truly satisfying sequel to its passable but still promising predecessor.

The film simply tears across the country looking for a reason to be. Too often, its just a bunch of things happening at once without really moving the plot forward.

The Addams Family 2 repeats what the first movie accomplished by taking the popular family and turning them into one of the most boringly generic kids films in recent years.

Isaac is the perfect Latin lover, Gomez, while Theron has a deep and sensual voice, and exudes confidence, traits which are needed to portray Morticia.
