The animation is sharp, right down to Lurch's fingernails. The music is well-placed. The famous theme song pops up now and then but is not overdone.

This 2019 CGI remake misses the mark in the most crucial element of what has sustained The Addams Family all this time - its offbeat, macabre vibe. If you don't get that, you're really not going to get any of it.

It's tedious but, worse, it's wasteful. The wealth of talent that has gone into its making has been frittered away in a vain attempt to pump new heart into a creation that ran out of puff long ago.

Don't expect any of the wit or charm of the 1960s TV show or Barry Sonnenfeld's big-screen adaptations. Monstrous. But not in kooky, spooky way.

Lacking a visually pleasing animation style and or a unique story, The Addams Family is less kooky and ooky than eh, okay.

Sure, The Addams Family may not reach the ghoulish heights of its predecessors, but the key ingredients are still thankfully there.

Through the animation language The Addams Family, re-enacts the avatars of this peculiar family, bringing the characteristic characters closer to new generations of children, who are surely unaware of the previous versions.

Every attempt to inject a little Addams in our lives should be rewarded.

The Addams Family is a fun, charming reboot that stays true to the series while also lacking "that special something."

The whole possesses a bit of a randomness filling the thin plot with comedic set-pieces, but none goes against the message of inclusion to render any moments out-of-place.
