The Banker

"The Banker," now available on Apple TV+, is three movies in one, all of them vivid, engaging, and compelling.

It's perfectly suited for home viewing.

[T]he film is overlong, but the story is an eye-opener and the central performances are terrific.

The Banker is a solidly old-fashioned adaptation of the remarkable true story of some of America's first black bankers.

Taken on its own, "The Banker" is a pleasant watch. And who wouldn't benefit from a little Mackie and Jackson banter right now?

A potentially great, if safely made, film... ends up as a solid one instead.

The Banker offers a mild return but misses an opportunity on a larger investment.

Despite a few moving moments between the two leads, the denouement never really pulls together, and as the credits roll, you feel like you really want more – and not in a good way.

"The Banker" achieves its worthy goal of shining light on economic subjugation by the white Man, as executed through all means of public and private reality in America.

A level above... your good jump scare film... For me the last third of the movie was far more exciting than the first two thirds.
