Epic war movie!!! Myung-Min Kim is always strong in drama! But beauty Megan Fox I think was unnecessary here...

Wow, why are the real critics so down on this movie? It is just fine. The battle scenes are well done. The story itself is somewhat unique and generally unknown to the audience, so it is fresh. The character development is typical war movie stuff. There is the usual comparison of hard life back home and the classic dilemma of what to do when a friend or relative is fighting for the other side. But aside from all the standard war movie cliches this movie is highly watchable. The objectives and challenges are clearly identified. The helicopter that appears in the middle is from the completely incorrect era, however. It appears to be a UH-1 which did not exist until 1959. That was a distraction.

Living in SE Asia with many Korean, plus bit of a post WWII history buff, i welcomed this rare insight into the Asian mind and strengths. As for a movie, the characters are developed into unique indiviguals with several compelled sup plots; the girl who fights instead of her brother for family heritage reasons, the boy who is one of 11 siblings and suffers loss of love of his parents, many more. Reading the revues and seeing the, critics 38% score vs the 88% score of movie lovers,, again i believe many of the critics have lost touch with why we love going to the movies.

This movie was surprisingly good, I didn't really know what to expect. Megan Fox has really grown as an actor and delivers a great performance.

Great war drama. If as tired as I am with world war 2 movies, see this. Never forget the Korean war and those who fought in it.

Honestly, I haven't cried this much at a movie in a long time. The actors did a great job with their roles as student soldiers. It's incredible to me that their captain spent his whole life trying to get their service recognized by the South Korean military because the students were sent on a suicide mission before they were properly registered in the Korean army. Choi Sung-Pil's storyline was absolutely heartbreaking. I would highly recommend this film!
