The potential this movie has seemed to have fallen out of the director's more so the writers' hands. The exciting cast could not save this poorly executed plot. I'd like to think De Niro and Jones hadn't the slightest clue what they had gotten themselves into.

Expecting great things 3 massive stars, but fell well short of my expectations. If you're expecting a hilarious take on 70s Hollywood film making, don't bother.

A couple of funny moments to make up for the silliness that fills The Comeback Trail despite having a cast of two brilliant actors.
  • Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Silly as hell dark comedy that wrestles with some serious tone issues. At some points it's pitch-black nihilism, but then at others it's goofy slapstick. I just wish it were better able to marry those two. It does make some fun, stinging comments on the movie industry.

did not laughed so much for a very long time! This is comedy.

Enjoyable, entertaining and funny. Seasoned actors make it sizzle along with Butterscotch and its owner. Well worth watching.

Not so bad, but a wasted potential by loosing precious screen time with "wokeness" that doesn't help on the story development. It could be a drama-comedy to watch on a rainy afternoon and see Morgan, Tommy and Robert being silly. But somehow the desire to introduce wokeness to the project throws everything away.

3 great actors simply don't make a movie. One just shouldn't spend all the production cost on fancy actors' salaries and buy a script for only 25 cents. The story is nothing but a cheap knockoff of movies like "The Producers". It's actually unbelievable that not one, not two, but three of the best actors of the last 50 years accepted to enter this movie. Did none of them read the script before signing the contracts. It looks like collective professional suicide. This flick is supposed to be a comedy, but nobody in the cinema came beyond a slight giggle in those very few comic moments which rather seemed like age-old slapstick instead of real humor. One can wait a year or two or ten to watch this on cable TV, when one has really nothing better to do. 4 1/2 of 10 points.
