    Quite boring, almost fell asleep.

The bizarre little stylistic flourishes (i.e. the subtitles for the cats' meowing) do elevate what is a fairly traditional biopic.

This movie! An unexpected surprise! Benedict Cumberbatch is spectacular as Louis Wain. Who is Louis Wain? I know right? This film has comedy/drama and darn it, it even made me cry. Watch it now and thank me later.

I have to admit, this film has languished on my watchlist for many months, and it was only the threat that it was soon to be deleted from the accomodating streaming service that I decided to watch it. This is the kind of film that you will either love or hate. Usually, I am in the latter category when it comes to 'arty' films, but, surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Olivia Colman's narration transforms it into a bit a of a fairytale, and the impressive cast and cameos adds to it's charm. Charming - an excellent adjective to describe this film. Charming and emotional, driven by a beautiful but tragic life story. 5 stars from me.

Beautiful on so many levels! Benedict should win a BAFTA and an OSCAR for his performance as Louis Wain

A very fulfilling watch. The first half is incredibly heart warming, and the second is a profoundly disturbing yet accurate description of mental illness. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 12 (as anyone younger might have nightmares), I think the extremely realistic portrayal of Louis Wayne's psyche is the only part of the movie I did not enjoy. A must see, and a movie with heart.

Thought the opening was a bit strained. Just Cumbernatch showing off how quickly he can spit the words out whilst battling against the domestic contrived 'chaos'. Not sure how the "electrical story" narrative works against the main thrust of the film - which is just an eccentric Victorian with a cat obsession. If you like Benedict Cumbernatch and cats, this film is a must for you.

Nice film. Not great, but nice. Good performance from Cumberbatch, in a (just another) role of a genius or at least an excentric person that is very good at something,

    Fun but heartbreaking.

Luminously lit, psychedelically scored and dazzles with an electricity of both vigor and melancholia, this autobiographical drama of the eponymous English artist celebrated for drawings of anthropomorphised large-eyed cats is also a hypnotic portrait of schizophrenia and universal beauty.
