Pretty depressing but I understand why it has to be that way. Still nonetheless an amazing Spielberg film that doesn't disappoint on acting, music, and cinematography.

The semi-biographical motion picture depicting "definitely not me" by a well-established director has become a cliché in its own right. However, this particular film takes a more unconventional approach. Although his parents did urge him to showcase their imperfections on screen, one cannot help but wonder if it was truly necessary for him to portray them in such a pitiable manner.

I did not expect the movie to be about that, caught in a good surprise.

The Fabelmans, Steven Spielberg's latest movie, effectively mines through his childhood to examine his love for film. A complex set of ideas mixed in a way only the master filmmaker could pull together. Full review: https://cinephilecorner.com/reviews/the-fabelmans-movie-2022/

This film is OK, with some good moments. Steven Spielberg is one of my favorite directors so I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately the film is too long and overbloated with the annoying/selfish mother's love affair story. Her character, along with all the California high-school kids were just way to unlikable and cliché. Apart from that Sammy is a likeable lead and I enjoyed all the filmmaking scenes and the ending was great.

Although too self explanatory at times, Spielberg on a couch proves he is as good a story teller as he is with dinosaurs and aliens.

Spielberg's most personal film. Beyond just his family's complicated history the script explores the power, danger, and magic of cinema. Also there's potentially a homage to De Palma here I really appreciated.

It's an absolute crime that this film wasn't more successful than it was. It's charming and brilliant, giving an insight into Spielberg's early years and introduction to film making. I was enthralled for two and a half hours. Give it a go.

The biggest blockbuster you can make is the one that reflects on yourself and your family! As a young boy pursues his passion for filmmaking, his journey follows his familial struggles and influences as he goes through life intent of seeing through to the end. Reflecting every child's journey from childhood to adolescence, this film is like a snapshot that captures every heartfelt moment from start to finish!

"The Fabelmans" provides an intriguing glimpse into the life of a passionate film enthusiast, exploring themes of love, creativity, and the pursuit of dreams. However, while the protagonist's cinematic journey captivates, the familial dynamics and conflicts fail to match the same level of intrigue. Despite this imbalance, the film still offers moments of charm and introspection, making it a thought-provoking watch for cinephiles and those drawn to coming-of-age tales.
