The Fall of the American Empire
audience Reviews
, 75% Audience Score- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThis movie would’ve been great as a book. It didn’t use cinematography to it’s advantage. Monotone pace, boring camera shots and robot cast don’t do the scenario justice.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie is brilliant - suspenseful, moving, witty and above all a seething indictment of rotten capitalism, objectification and greed. Finally, a beautiful couple of human beings cleverly pit the system against itself to lift up the lives of those most victimized by a soulless, heartless society. Thank you. It's the best I've seen in a long time. Canada needs to strive to be less like the US and more like Northern European countries where homelessness, gun violence and poverty have been drastically reduced by socialist values (ie caring values) and policies. The moral compass of North America clearly needs a readjustment and this movie makes it all too clear.
Perfeito...
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsIf you liked Jesus of Montreal, you'll like this effort. A very similar setup—an eccentric young man trying to adhere to the anti-materialist tenets of the philosophers he studies ends up, through an accidental event, forming a circle around him that includes thieves, the homeless and even a prostitute who becomes friend, lover, confidante and adherent to the cause. Sound vaguely familiar?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA good movie. Sure there isn't much here that is new or incredible, but it delivers an entertaining feel-good story with some clever elements. Forgive the cliché plot points. It's nice to have some familiar movie elements presented in new ways.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA great movie, that has a unique flavor and style. For people who want to laugh a lot to a clever humor <3
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis is one of the best movie i have ever watched in my entire life! Indeed an eye opener about society, politics, government and of course money!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsA tale about a crime which, surprisingly, talks about capitalism, philosophy, and good intentions. Not a bad result at all, even if sometimes the plot is lees important than the message.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThis film seemed to be a white supremast incel's wet dream. The bad guys are the only non-white in the movie. There are multiple references to the jews, the Irish, the arabs, the feminist judges.. The story is of a white guys who is super brilliant. So much so that he can't keep a girl. He then takes huge sums of cash, with no regard to security cameras or the tracking equipment on his van, hires a prostitute with is (who has a heart of gold, sees his vast superiority to all the men she's been with and falls in love with him), hires a notorious criminal straight out of jail and a dirty financier, then gets to keep the money because the liberal government of Canada is no match for his brilliance. Really terrible movie that I wish I could erase from my memory.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsVery well done (for a Canadian movie) Laughed throughout the movie!
