Fun little vampire flick. Loved the homage to Dracula.

I don't understand all the bad reviews, it wasn't an all time great, but it was still a very entertaining thriller. The acting was good - especially the chemistry between Nathalie Emmanuel and Thomas Doherty. Sean Pertwee was excellent as the boss of the house. I think it helped that it had been 2+ years from its release and we'd completely forgotten about the trailers, previews etc so we had a fresh perspective going in.

Everyone is like, oh its predictable... But its a vampire movie. There's the biters and bities. N. Emmanuel is a fun actor to watch and the storyline is alright.

Overall a good storyline is ruined by dark scenes you cannot even make out what is happening (I get it's a horror movie, creepy etc. but there is being creepy and then there's this where you can't even make out what is making the scene scary.) Such whispering voices you have no chance of catching what they said, again I get it's all a part of the horror scene (quiet to loud, jumpscares) but this was just ridiculous. In the end I gave up trying to figure out what they were saying.

The first half of this movie is just filler. Be forewarned. You'll encounter long long needless conversation and long non-explicit sex scenes.

The problem isn't the airport paperback concept, the problem is that it isn't the least bit scary, thrilling, or even fun. Also the movie looks and feels immensely cheap.

I liked it thought it was really good. Acting was really good to and quality of film was good. If someone hadn't ruined it for me before I watched it I would have been shocked by the big reveal. Unfortunately someone ruined the ending for me so I wasn't as surprised. Even though that happened to me I still thought the way they set this movie up was very well done❤️

Admittedly, I had very low expectations going into this film, but I will gladly say that I was wrong. Whilst I think the reveal took too long, 'The Invitation' is a stunning gothic horror and has undeniably earned its place as a good vampire film - god knows that there are many atrocious vampire films. Despite not being subtle, it is a thrilling addition to the collection of retellings of a classic literature fiend and is an absolute must-watch if you're a fan of vampiric horrors. Set and costume design is stunningly elegant, and the performance of Thomas Doherty and Nathalie Emmanuel certainly match that aesthetic.

It drags at points but it is a fun take on the Dracula legend.

Nothing happens just watch the last 10 minutes and still be upset...
