You just can't hate this movie. It is still one of my favorite animated movies from my childhood. The character-development is just out of this world. It comes with an incredible and beautiful soundtrack. And an overall great story. Coming back to this movie always brings me joy and nostalgic feelings. Simba the young lion, being betrayed and exiled by his uncle, finds new friends when all hope seems to be lost. Together they have to fight to reclaim Simba's position as King of his father's kingdom.

Back when Disney could do it all. On the other hand, there are no surprises - and there probably shouldn't be either. The movie is not boring, but it is really predictable.

"The Lion King" is one of the many reasons why the Renaissance era is the peak of Disney animation. The movie cleverly uses three stories for its inspiration. The blueprint is mostly "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, while using elements of the books of "Joseph" and "Moses" from the bible. The story is about a young lion named Simba who is destined to become the king, but when his uncle Scar betrays and gaslights him over his father's death he is forced to run away. With Simba gone Scar has proclaimed himself as the king and begins a tyranny over the pride. While Simba lives a carefree life he has no idea what truly happened to his father or his home, and it isn't until he has an epiphany that he can't run from the past anymore. Having gone through the journey of self discovery and maturity Simba knows that he must return to put things back in order. Sir Elton John and Hans Zimmer bring this Disney classic to life with music that not only is catchy but carries elements of African culture. Alongside the music comes a star studded cast featuring Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones and Rowan Atkinson bring this epic to life. Highly Recommend!

Whether you're an adult or a child, the original The Lion King is an easy movie to find joy in. It's a film filled with valuable life lessons and touches on themes regarding friendship, betrayal, the responsible use of power, and working in tandem with others to achieve a common goal. Buoyed by great animation, a compelling story, some fantastic songs, plenty of strikingly bright visuals, and lots of strong performances from the voice actors (James Earl Jones, Nathan Lane, Rowan Atkinson, and Whoopie Goldberg, among others), The Lion King is topnotch family entertainment from beginning to end.

My favorite movie of all time. I'm literally obsessed. And Scar, literally the perfect villain, not to mention the music, which is the best. I watched this movie 27 times in a span of 3 days

While the movie is very predictable and could have built certain things up a bit better, The Lion King is an iconic and stunningly drawn Disney classic that uses its thematically rewarding storytelling and elegant genre fusions to sport an engaging animation for all demographics.
