It's the last great adventure movie of our time. Truly a treasure of a film. A melody of action, adventure, romance, horror, and comedy.

The film was released on May 7, 1999. This film is directed by Steven Sommers. The success of the film spawned two direct sequels: "The Mummy Returns" (2001) and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" (2008). The genre of the film is an action adventure. It has it all: ancient curses, an embalmed high priest, two warring parties searching for archaeological treasures, and dashing legionnaire Brendan Fraser, in love with prim librarian Rachel Weisz. "The Mummy" is an exciting, thrilling and terrifying epic about an expedition of explorers in search of treasures in the Sahara Desert in 1925. Having stumbled upon an ancient tomb, hunters unwittingly release a 3,000-year-old legacy of horror embodied in the vengeful reincarnation of an Egyptian priest who was killed. condemned to eternity as one of the living dead. The acting is very good. Starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hanna and Arnold Voslu. The special effects are very good and harmonious. I really liked the film, it's not boring and has an interesting script. Not a bad storyline. I advise you to take a look.

There's no excuse for critics giving this a mediocre rating, and even audience rating at 75% is too low and unacceptable
  • Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
    A solid horror action movie

Enteraining romp from the 90's with some decent effects. I would not put this film in the great category and I would not recommend paying to see it in the theater. I would recommend buying it so you can see it over and over again for a laugh, or just streaming it for free. Not sure why they picked this film for re-release.

The Mummy is a 1999 American bestselling action adventure film maker by Steven Sommers. The genre is adventure / action / fantasy. The plot of the film is very incredible gripping and exciting and interesting above all by the theme itself, the film takes place in Egypt: a cursed mummy awakened from eternal sleep, confronts a company of desperate people, in general, everything is as it should be for a film of this genre. Everything is fine with humor and the staging of action scenes, the set is on top, the special effects for 1999 are perfect. I don't even know what is missing in this film - as for me, it is devoid of flaws. I would put it in the category that is interesting to review and revisit, enjoying watching it every time. I have to admit that the adventurous spirit captures attention, the plot keeps you in suspense until the very end, good humor creates a relaxed atmosphere, and the acting is simply incomparable, and the cast is very famous. Can t beat than playing an actor starring Brendan Fraser.
