Michael Chaves’ latest addition to the Conjuring Universe takes us back to 2023 France, where faith and fear collide in a chilling battle against the demon nun Valak. With atmospheric cinematography, bone-chilling performances, and a haunting score, the film immerses viewers in a suspenseful tale of good versus evil. But does it transcend the familiar tropes of horror, or does it fall victim to its lack of originality? Let’s dive in.
The film excels in its nail-biting suspense, immersing the audience in a world where the lingering specters of past sins haunt the present. Right from the opening scene, it becomes clear that the film boasts impeccable and dynamic cinematography. The camera work and sound design work in harmony to create a disquieting atmosphere, effectively heightening the tension with unsettling soundscapes and haunting musical cues.
Fans of horror will appreciate the meticulous attention to Valak's makeup, which enhances the film’s unnervingly lifelike portrayal of the demon. The performances are particularly compelling, especially from Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Blouquet, who deliver standout portrayals that ground the film amidst its supernatural chaos. Bonnie Aarons returns as Valak, delivering a bone-chilling performance that blends chilling physicality with psychological horror. The character of Sister Irene provides emotional depth, showcasing a confident and secure faith that resonates with viewers.
The film's pacing is expertly crafted, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats with a mix of relentless jump scares and suspenseful build-up. While its reliance on familiar horror tropes and predictable scares may detract from its originality, the film succeeds in delivering intense moments that will resonate with die-hard fans of the genre.
Visually, the cinematography brings a unique flair to the gothic horror style, enhancing the eerie atmosphere with layers of darkness, shadows, and strategically placed flickers of light. The soundtrack perfectly underscores the film’s chilling moments, particularly those associated with Valak's demonic presence.
This movie will likely resonate with viewers who enjoy horror films, especially those within the Conjuring Universe, and appreciate a suspenseful, jump-scare-heavy experience. While it may not appeal to everyone, its chilling atmosphere and intense scares make it a formidable entry in the horror genre.
Overall, I rate this film 52%. While the cinematic work and soundtrack are on point, the film’s lack of originality ultimately holds it back. Nonetheless, it serves as a chilling reminder of the power of faith in the face of darkness and fear.

While others say that this movie is better than The Nun, I respectfully disagree. I feel like the environment, a boarding school, is more relaxed than the environment of The Nun, which is The Abbey.
The jump scare is decent, I prefer The Nun's but it's okay.
The main villain, Valek, is rarely shown in the movie. The demon (goat?) and Frenchie got a lot more time than Valek.
The Nun II however does explain the relation of Valek with Sister Irene. This also explained why the Vatican picked Sister Irene to accompany Father Burke in The Nun. The story of Sister Irene's mother doesn't flow with the rest of the story, except maybe to implicate that Sister Irene is the descendant of Saint Lucy.
The end fight scene is one of my favourite scenes! When Sister Irene is burned but successfully fends off Valek. Makes The Nun more sense on why Sister Irene is picked by the Vatican, twice.
P.s. They did good on the girl bully. She pmo!

Its way better than its predecessor and more funny, it’s still stupid but entertains, just the end is very fool, and that takes 1 star.

They tried, it's an ok movie

It’s worth the watch but doesn’t have the creepiness of the first one.

Just Awful. No atmosphere at all, and, it was so silly in some parts I laughed out loud!... I was not alone.
The story is daft,... the eyes the eyes! what's next? knees and bumps a daisy? And the constant shrieking of little girls?! Do me a favour!
We've pegged this as the next 'Rocky Horror' in our house, we have props too!
Now we know it's this nun and not the conjuring nun Valak, we're out.
The first one was fantastic, but this one was just predictable and cheesy with zero scares or atmosphere and a weak story, It's a shame because Maurice's character's story deserved better, and Valak was treated like a cheap prop.
Funny is not the outcome I'd have expected from a horror film, but there it is.
