Well, ya coming? The Polar Express is a magnificent film, with a cast that makes this locomotive worth riding.

There are moments in The Polar Express that are truly inspired. Everything from the train arriving and a heater in the kid's room becoming a steam whistle, to a conducter played by Tom Hanks. However, the animation is so poor, as it goes in and out of sink with the dialogue, and the script extremely underdeveloped, that I can't really say this movie is good despite a heavy dose of nostalgia. If most people can't remember what happenes after he gets on the train and before they arrive at the north pole, it's a sign the movie needed a re-write.

Somehow I have gotten through over 15 Christmases since this was released and never took the opportunity to watch it. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. Based on the beloved children's book by Chris Van Allsburg and featuring award winning filmmakers at the helm, I would have imagined this to be a potential all-time classic. Instead I was bored throughout, unmoved and, for some reason, the animation came across kinda creepy to me. I was trying to think of the words to use in this review, then a perfect analogy hit me. The Oscar-nominated theme song is sung by Josh Groban, and my feelings toward this movie are somewhat analogous of my feelings toward him. Technical precision and obvious talent but not a lot of heart. Most Christmas movies, even the bad ones, get me at least somewhat emotional. This left me cold. The voice work is serviceable, although God bless Eddie Deezen but his work as the Know-It-All Boy drove me to start drinking earlier than normal. And I don't think it was necessary to use Hanks for multiple characters. And the musical score is crazy monotonous and borderline intrusive. I'm afraid this won't be one I'll be revisiting on future holidays.

    BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

What we are given is a scattershot line of ideas that either aged poorly, are quite irritating, are audacious, are thoughtful, are genuinely heartfelt, and are (whether intentional or not, it is extremely hard to tell) fruitlessly unsettling. Robert Zemeckis should be commended, but not altogether praised.

Even if the movie has bad animation, it still has a great story

I don't get why the ratings are so low. this is a classic and its a good plot plus it had a good plotline. the only thing i dont like about this is the animation is kind of creepy and after watching a video about it the animation had some weak points but that doesnt mean the movie is bad

This is a classic Christmas movie. I enjoy it every time I watch it. The storyline is a bit simple but still has a charm to it. I would give it a go if you haven't seen it yet.

This movie is so phenomenally well done. This movie starts off introducing a young boy who has some serious doubt about the existence of Santa Clause. He can't sleep and hears the loud of horn coming from none other than the "Polar Express." He is then Introduced to come aboard from the conductor, played by Tom Hanks, to visit the North Pole, throughout the journey the boy meets new friends, has hot coaco, loses a girls ticket, and meets a hobo, also played by Tom Hanks. It's so fun to watch and keeps you on the edge of your seat as they make thier way to the North Pole, but what is so magical is what makes you start believing in the spirit of Christmas when they get to their destination. I hope you enjoy this movie as much as my family and I certainly have each year.
