The Proposal

It's just bizarre. I didn't like this movie at all.

What begins with an absorbing struggle over copyright infringement soon descends into an episode of Ghost Hunters with Magid leaving out a plate of Barragán's favorite cookies in case his spirit is hungry.

"The Proposal" makes for a fascinating and not-a-little-morbid piece of artistic trolling.

Who should have access to an artist's legacy? That's only one of many good questions that are raised in this mesmerizing exercise in artistic interrogation.

Magid, similar to the architect she reveres, knows the power of a good story and how to poetically construct one.

Addresses fundamental questions about the ownership of creative work in a unique, entrancingly dreamy way.

The documentary doesn't bring closure to her fight for Barragán's archive, but it will work its way under a viewer's skin and leave them with persistent ideas to consider.

Well-shot doc, both breezy and contemplative at under 90 minutes...

Barragán's monumental, colorful, slab-like work, which photographs beautifully and is a pleasure to look at...

Some art is a scream, whereas other art is but a whisper. The Proposal is a scream buried inside a whisper, basically the kinkiest of all ASMR.
