Actors I like with a terrible story line.

Solid movie. The acting was convincing and the plot was intriguing.

The Quarry is an okay film. It is about a drifter who kills a traveling preacher and takes his place at a small-town church. Shea Whigham and Michael Shannon give decent performances. The script is a little slow in places. Scott Teems did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and mystery.

Great acting. Slow and depressed atmosphere. But so well written and acted. Sadly not getting the recognition it deserves. I watch a lot of movies. This was very good.

It's an interesting slow cooking crime drama with decent acting, unfortunately spoiled by an illogical odd ending. 6/10 points.

A movie that had a theme and a message to show their audience, but dragged out the runtime of the story that could've been in reality a 30 minute short film.

Awful! Slow, boring and the ending was stupid. Kept watching out of a belief it had to improve… it didn’t

I wanted to like this film more than I did. The performances exceeded the material the actor's were given. The narrative relied on cliches, unfortunately. The world-weary woman of lost virtue, the burnt out lawman, the dead-inside criminal. The last of these undergoes sometimes of a change, but not a transformation, and at such a grindingly slow pace that he barely comes to any semblance of redemptive self-awareness before it us too late. The story teases with the audience, implying that the truth will be discovered, or the guilty conscience is about to conquer deceit, then nothing. Dull-wittedness and criminal self-preservation prevail. The one act of self-sacrifice, but the petty thief on behalf of his younger brother, undone by his murder of a deputy and his understandable but still criminal murder of the man for whose crime the petty thief had been arrested. There is no lesson here conveyed other than "life sucks and then you die."

The quarry is one of those films that has a good premise, a decent story with good performances but the film can’t figure out where to go. And as a result the film doesn’t really have much of a payoff. The pacing could’ve been better and I do wish more happened in the film given its premise. It’s an all right film but I feel it’s a missed opportunity.

I had zero idea about this movie but from the small description on the info guide. Very slow but well thought out plot and the acting was top notch. Something about the movie stuck with me. If you have the chance to watch please do.
