Let's get this out of the way first, if you're a Nic Cage fan, you should enjoy this movie quite a but. But even if you're one of those folks who like him sometimes and don't know what to do with him the other times, well...you should still enjoy this movie. By no means is this a perfect movie, and yes, the plot is a bit over-the-top, but then again, who watches action movies for their realism? We want hyperbolic action, one-liners and likeable characters we can root for. The cast in this one is fantastic, a monster line-up of character actors, and familiar faces. The child actress playing the granddaughter does an admirable job as well, and despite it all, there are a few surprises and plot twists that work out well enough. Plus, kudos for a film where the hero is a senior citizen/retiree and not the usual 20 or 30-something. I enjoyed that aspect of the film immensely. All in all, a well-made actioner and a damned entertaining one at that.

so-so. On the upside, it has a pretty decent veteran cast led by Nick Cage. On the down side, the script was just stupid. I kept yelling at the screen for the bad guys to just SHOOT already and get it over with. Now you could forgive an out and out comedy, but this thing takes itself too seriously for a comedy. Instead it seems to be going for a stylish gangland film like Bullet Train or some guy ritchie garbage, and does neither very well.

I can see why it didn't make bank at the theatre. If you watched it there, you probably felt Ron Pearlman, Thalia Campbell and Ernie Hudson were wasted by the half arsed writing- couple of good scenes, little bit to get their acting chops into and then, ultimately, not a lot- and the ending lacks any major twists or surprises. I don't think they could decide whether they were making a thriller or a parody of a thriller, to be honest. But if you're going to watch it on streaming, what the hell, go for it. It's an entertaining twenty minutes

Wow. It's so bad that I thought it was a satire like Tropic Thunder -- but it's not funny enough to actually be one. It's just BAD. Then I thought - this must be an "action movie" made for kids, but woah, it has an R rating. So it's just truly a terrible terrible movie. Bad acting, bad plot, laughable in all ways but without the punch of clever humor to make it obviously intentionally a joke. Bad isn't even accurate - the acting is TERRIBLE. It's literally of the level of if I got together with a bunch of friends and we tried to pretend that we were action heroes and bad guys. I actually feel sorry for Nicolas Cage if this was supposed to be a real movie w/o satire of being a joke.

This is possibly the worst movies I've ever seen. Bad acting, terrible plot line, a waste of my time.

    Fun, Fresh and Classic Cage

The movie really sucked. I don't know why Nicolas Cage makes so many bad movies lately because he's such a good actor. It's like he's just doing it for the money. Even the stunts and action fighting looked very phony. It's as if they didn't even practice. I loved Nicolas Cage in his earlier movies but now it's like he's doing any movie offered to him for a paycheck. Reminds me of Bruce Willis, making horrible movies, but he had an excuse, his dementia put him on a time line to forced retirement.

One of Cage's best in a very long time! He's perfect in the role. Lots of good action, very entertaining.
