Consensus: Fast-paced, funny, and blessed with a talented voice cast, The Secret Life of Pets offers a beautifully animated, cheerfully undemanding family-friendly diversion.

It is an incredibly simple yet irresistible idea for a movie. It's also exactly what you think it's going to be - no more, no less.

Draws on the universal experience of pet ownership to draw out the "awww" in all of us. But the film butt-scoots by on its premise. There's not much more going on, thematically or emotionally below the surface.

The humor is nearly out-of-control like the depicted creatures and it tends to be raunchy for its younger viewers at times. Even if its plot is vaguely loose,… More

It always amazes me how Universal never cares to create anything remotely clever when it comes to their animations, and so once again they come up with a… More

A funny, interesting cartoon but not as good as expected.
