The Strangers: Chapter 1

Billing itself as one of the worst violent crimes that happen in the United States each year, what follows on screen should be labeled as one of the dumbest. “The Strangers: Chapter 1” is not fun or scary. Villains aren’t scary and fail to capture the haunting atmosphere from the original Strangers. The main characters are beyond dumb. They have plenty of chances to escape but are too clueless to figure it out. It’s just dumb characters doing dumb things. For example, the main character walks away from the running car after one of the villains leaves it. He also has one of the villains in the crosshairs and instead of taking action he delivers dumb dialogue. When the main characters are captured, one says to the other “they got us” well duh. How stupid can these poorly written characters be? Also the villains aren’t very smart either leaving the main characters free to roam and discover a weapon that can be used against them. It’s a short run time at roughly 90 mins but it feels a lot longer. Overall, this is a poorly written and poorly directed stinker of a film.

It’s just meh. A pointless remake really, but knowing they’re intending to make it a trilogy I think the rest should be better. The main couple are cute together; both very pretty. Their romantic acting was more believable than their horror acting. This one relies on too much music and too many sound effects, whereas the original was able to be suspenseful/tense with none really. Overall, kinda lame, kinda not. We’ll see where the second one goes.

the movie is so bland, all it is was a slow burn of killing of a couple. no explanations, its so unrealistic, not even original. i dont recomment this to anyone.

The Strangers: Chapter I should have never been made. The first movie a few years back wasn't even the greatest but did it's job. Now fast forward to where we are at now with this unwanted sequel. The movie adds nothing to the first one and is very predictable and insults the viewers intelligence. Also the performances in this movie are very bad. Our leads break all the rules for being in a horror film. Also this film is really not scary at all and fails to even have any jump scares. The ending leaves off with a part 2 which I really hope never sees the light of day. The Strangers: Chapter 1 gets a very low rating of 1/2 star out of 5.

Really wish we could give negative stars. What a waste of money. I love bad horror but this wasn't even enjoyable bad. It's frustrating bad. There were SO MANY chances for them to get away. The gun? Useless. The RUNNING car? Useless. The cell phones? Useless. Absolutely insane. The whole movie made me so angry by the end I wanted everyone dead anyway.
