The Youth Governor

I loved this film. From the focus on youth and an amazing program out of the YMCA to the excellent fly-on-the-wall filmmaking (not at all heavy-handed like so many docs are), I enjoyed it start to finish. It was exciting to watch them run and see who might win, and even though the wrong person won 😏, it was so realistic to the political process, and I'm so glad kids in the Youth and Government program learn about the democratic process in such an exciting and engaging way. Show it to all the teens you know, and watch it yourself!!

Incredible film! So inspiring to watch the future leaders of our country

I loved this film. I knew nothing about the YMCA's Youth and Government program, and the filmmakers take us on a journey that is both fascinating and enthralling, leaving me wanting to see and know even more about the program and its participants. The cinematography is gorgeous and the narrative is captivating as it follows the candidates in their race. My heart raced to the finish almost like "Hoop Dreams." The young students' stories are real, poignant and invigorating…and the film left me hopeful about the future of government, if only these young people stay so passionately engaged.
