Incredibly disappointing given the ratings, ALL the funny bits are in the trailer. While there are some fantastic performances these are let down by so many bad ones. Boring, not funny,I would have walked out only kept hoping it would get better.

Fun. June Squibb is a treasure.
  • Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
"Thelma" is a wonderful film featuring June Squibb as Thelma Post, a role inspired by the director's grandmother. Squibb delivers a standout performance, even handling many of her own stunts. Richard Roundtree, known for his iconic role as Shaft, offers a solid supporting performance as her companion. Parker Posey and Gregg Clark portray her daughter and son-in-law with warmth and authenticity. However, the breakout star is Fred Hechinger as Danny, Thelma's caring yet maturing grandson. His portrayal of a millennial balancing responsibility and love for his grandmother is both relatable and endearing. Ultimately, "Thelma" is a poignant and accurate portrayal of the importance of accepting help as we grow older, offering a message of love, resilience, and understanding.

THELMA is a low-key masterpiece, at once a brilliant sendup of the heist genre, a PSA for elder care, and a meditation on aging and inter-generational connection. A thoroughly entertaining and heart-felt "action" dramedy that doesn't trade in cheap laughs, and goes deep without getting too heavy.

Horrible…why did Rotten Tomatoes base the 83% audience reviews on only 5 out of 250… What a scam Rotten Tomatoes has become. Don’t waste your time! Do the film makers pay you to be deceptive? If I could give Rotten Tomorrow a zero star, I would! I’m going to look elsewhere for my movie reviews here on out.👎👎👎

Thelma is slow at times but delivers a very important and heart warming story. The mission impossible references were iconic and June Squibb was the perfect choice for the lead

Dull and entirely predictable. Could've been so much better with a sharper director. There were no surprises and I can only assume it was designed to entertain the residents of a retirement care facility

Not great, had potential to be fun and ridiculous but missed the mark.

So lovely to see an elderly based movie where the characters are treated with respect for their knowledge and wisdom. Brilliant and innocent, this is a lovely watch for the whole family. I'm not surprised it has rated so well with the audience and critics alike, as we don't have enough of these movies to go around.

Thelma is a gem of a movie with a lot of heart. June Squibb plays the title character, who decides that her story isn’t over and she will not take no for an answer when it comes to recovering what belongs to her. Her relationship with the character played by the late Richard Roundtree was sweet, and her extended family including her underdog grandson was funny, yet poignant when they realize that Thelma is missing. It was also great to see Malcolm McDowell in the latter, pivotal scenes. Anyone who is blessed to still have a grandparent should see it as well as taking their grandparents to see it while they can still enjoy a movie together.
