Trail of Ashes

It's a shame that the writing falls short since there was some real promise to what this film could be. It's not horrendously bad by any means, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Director Arturo Lizardi (great name!) produces something here which is full of imagination, but ends up, for the most part, like Frankenstein's pieced together monster.

An impressive all-around production can't overcome the muddled story its trying to tell. [Full review in Spanish]

Often frustrating as this is the kind of interesting, fleshed out world worth getting invested in if it were more inviting.

More than just fantasy, the movie also takes on aspects of a mystery and thriller that are not normally seen in the genre. It does not always work, but its worth a watch.
