Val

Val is a great idea in search of a narrative that maintains momentum all the way through, but it’s still a hell of a lot of fun...The real draw, though, is Misha Reeves as the titular Duchess of Hell.

[Val] might have benefited from being a short or part of a Tales from the Crypt-style anthology. There's talent on display here, but it's largely wasted on a wisp of an idea.

Seductively entertaining, Val is a real love-letter to the works of Tim Burton and Sam Raimi, wearing it's weird heart on it's immaculately put together sleeve with pride.

An outstanding performance from Misha Reeves carries this fun horror comedy. Begins to run out of steam towards the end, but remains watchable the entire time.

Reeves is so charming and seductive that she mostly compensates for the weak writing.
