When a Democratically leaning film lover such as myself recognizes that a movie is being unrealistically hard against a controversial Republican figure, you know there's something amiss. McKay's movie has all the subtlety of a jackhammer and is so busy making Dick Cheney a monster that they don't bother to make him a human. He's basically Michael Myers transported from Haddonfield IL to Washington DC. Bale does a fine impersonation but nothing beyond that. Adams is wasted in a nothing role. And it kills me to say that Carell is actively bad, as if he were in a comedy skit. I would have loved to see a movie that took the time to consider Cheney's assets AND liabilities. But the filmmakers' repulsion toward its subject is so obvious, all credibility is lost.

The movie is known for having quite a few bad historic inaccuracies, but overall it sticks to history while keeping you glued to screen

Ultimately it is too glib and superficial. It does have one hell of a great gag about halfway through but that isn't enough to full redeem the movie.

I don't think there is any movie that when Mr. Bale and Mrs. Adams team up for will be a bad movie. Add the fact that they team up with Mr. McKay and this movie is an amazing, funny, impressive that everyone should see at least once in their life.

one of the best movies I have ever seen, wake up call for our government and who we elect

Presented as a documentary, but it's clear throughout the movie that the makers and scriptwriters of the movie have a large negative bias of Dick Cheney. This is not a documentary, nor should it present itself like one.

    Should have gone even weirder

No idea how this movie is getting a 60% from critics and fans. It you don't like politics you won't like this but it's interesting to see how all of this modern history unfolded. Even if politics isn't your thing just watch it to see some phenomenal and transformative acting from the entire cast. It's also not bias. It's points out his strengths and flaws. Well acted, directed, and edited. Only place it falls short in is the ending could've had a bigger bang but I did enjoy the Goodfellas style 4th wall break to end the movie.
