I made an account just so I could give it five stars, you must see this

this movie is beautiful and heartbreaking. the first half was a lot to take in but i loved the performances of alexa demie. emily's story felt like a relief. i think i liked the 2nd half more.

Loved it. The music felt like it help hold the story line and guide the audience to how the family is feeling. Love how the ending help heal the family and showed the growing apart to be together. Very beautiful live story and plot and highlighted mental health. My eyes were open I get the heartache.

Quite depressing for me. Confused on the slow pacing and the sudden change of focus from the son to the daughter. The acting saved this, but issues for me with the storytelling structure and shaky camera movements.

What a beautiful, mesmerizing, utterly unforgettable shock to the system.

Emotional roller coaster but amazing.

First half was good, second half wasnt

Had this film been released after the George Floyd murder, it would have been an overnight sensation and Oscar contender. It can be a hard movie to watch in it's brutal depiction of the realities that even an affluent African American family faces in this country, even in a racially diverse community. It contains one of the most surprising, jaw dropping scenes that I've ever seen in a film. The cinematography is fresh and superb, the acting spot on and the story all too believable, as well as relevant. It serves as a testament to the brilliant minds and dedication to excellent filmmaking coming from A24. Full disclosure, I had the privilege of working on this film's second unit crew for just a few days. But when asked what's my favorite film that I've ever worked on, it's without a doubt, "WAVES." I'm proud to have had even a very small connection to this outstanding film.
