The references were cute but this movie was huge and not in a positive way it was a little confusing a little and the songs didn’t really seem to give that Disney touch and it felt a little rushed and I would only recommend this to younger audiences.

I loved much about this movie, from the storytelling, as cliche as it may be, to the nostalgic easter eggs. The one thing that really broke the magic for me was the blatant use of AI (or just a complete idiot) which let Chris Pine down massively. Some of the lyricism in 'This is the thanks I get?' was really interesting, but the delivery, the tune and the cinematography really let him down.

Annoying story. Annoying characters. Confusing lyrics (here I are?). Couldn’t find most references. A failed 100 year celebration by Disney.

Wish relies on nostalgia for Disney classics, but the storytelling could be more compelling.

I really wasn't sure what to expect of this movie, the advertising waa very vague, even by modern family film standards. But it was very sweet, and I found the themes went surprisingly deep - there's a lot to say about this movie touching on the flawed American Dream ideal, or organized religion potentially losing sight of the true spirituality to a faith's teachings, but judging by other reviews, this might not be the place for that level of analytics. The characters are endearing, even if the group of friends to the heroine are certainly gimmicky. It is, at least, done as a clever homage to Disney's roots - and the performances go a long way. And the villain, Maginifico, is a return to form for Disney: straight-up selfishly evil, while trying to paint himself as a sympathetic hero - to the other characters, not the audience, finally! - until he lets go of pretense and goes full scenery-chewing. And Asha is a great heroine whose personality is pleasantly grounded, a refreshing change of pace. Both characters also offer more great performances, especially Asha while singing! The soundtrack might be too modern for some, and that's fair, but I love the young point of view it brings in with a songwriter team in their early 30s, from my reading. That's also refreshing from Disney! And that's the thing: Wish is overall a movie with a modern voice and outlook. It makes nods to Disney's roots, yes, but realistically you needn't be a long-time Disney fan to like this one. Wish is the rare Disney movie to actually feel made by the latest generation of talented filmmakers, instead of feeling like too many cooks were in the kitchen looking to capitalize on movies from the 1990s or earlier.

If I were teaching a class in screenwriting, I would use this is a non-example. Throughout the film, the plot feels empty as it seems like a mash-up of every Disney film before it. The production crew seem to spend more time referencing other Disney products in the film that actually making a film. The plot is bland, the characters are forgettable, the animation looks incomplete, and the songs are just not the quality that Disney had 30 years ago. The villain enrages me, as he is not good at being a villain and is a disgrace to villainy. At least it isn't Emoji Movie bad, but I would say that this is near the opposite quality of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Filled to the brim with iffy animation and forgettable songs, Wish is a heartless anniversary film.
