Aaron Abrams

As a writer of romantic comedies, a producer for popular television series, and an actor in projects spanning the genre spectrum, Aaron Abrams was the sort of aspiring creative determined to make it in one corner of show business or another. Kicking off his career as a bit part player in film and television, Abrams went on to experiment in screenwriting with features like "YPF" (2007) and "Grado 3" (2009), then to try his hand at producing with series like "Bob's Burgers" (Fox 2011- ). But Abrams sealed his legacy with a major role on "Hannibal" (NBC 2013-15), finally showing off his acting chops in earnest. While Abrams may have showcased talents across the board, it was his turn as Special Agent Brian Zeller that truly earned him notability. Aaron Abrams was born on May 12, 1978, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Shortly after graduating from the DePaul Theatre School with a Bachelor's degree in Acting in 2001, Abrams began his career as a film and television performer; he made his professional debut with a minor part in the comedy film "The In-Laws" (2003), which he followed promptly with the first of a handful of appearances spread out over three seasons of the Canadian theater comedy "Slings and Arrows" (The Movie Network 2003-06). During this period of his career, Abrams managed small roles in a number of high profile films: "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" (2004), "Cinderella Man" (2005), and the family film "Zoom" (2006), all before landing recurring parts on series like "The State Within" (BBC One 2006) and "Runaway" (The CW 2006). Abrams made his writing and producing debut with the film "YPF" (2007), a comedy in which he also starred. Following an increase in visibility thanks to a large supporting role in "Flash of Genius" (2008), Abrams penned his second comedy: "Grado 3" (2009), his first script in which he did not appear. However, Abrams' onscreen roles did increase in number and size; the next few years saw him take parts in films like "Amelia" (2009), and television series like "Rookie Blue" (Global 2010-) and "Producing Parker" (TVtropolis 2009-2011). Exploring new realms behind the scenes, Abrams next became a consulting producer for the animated sitcom "Bob's Burgers" (Fox 2011-), and then an executive producer on the short-lived drama series "The L.A. Complex" (MuchMusic 2012). After collecting additional supporting film roles, such as those in "Jesus Henry Christ" (2012) and "It Was You Charlie" (2012), Abrams joined the critically acclaimed dramatic thriller program "Hannibal" (NBC 2013-15). The series cast Abrams as Special Agent Brian Zeller, a recurring character in the first season who became a featured star thereafter.
