Dua Lipa
Born on August 22, 1995 in London, Dua Lipa was discovered at the age of 14 when she began posting clips of herself performing covers of popular songs to YouTube. After signing with Warner Music Group in 2015, her self-titled debut album was released in June 2017. Hit singles from the album included "Be the One," "IDGAF," and "New Rules." "New Rules" peaked at No. 1 on the British charts and at No. 6 on U.S. charts, and was also the first song performed by a female solo artist to hit 1 billion views on YouTube. Lipa's popularity on streaming services also extended to Spotify, where she became the No. 1 female artist featured on the service as well as the third most-streamed artist on Spotify overall. Lipa was nominated in five categories for the 2018 Brit Awards, the most nominations of any artist that year and the first woman artist to receive five nominations. She won for both British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Her songs have also been featured in numerous films, including "Baywatch" (2017) and "Fifty Shades Freed" (2018), and Lipa has been named to a number of "Best Of" lists, including "Rolling Stone" and "Time" magazine as well as TheFADER.com.
