Johannes Kuhnke

Johannes Kuhnke was a Swedish film and TV actor who was best known for his role in the internationally acclaimed 2014 drama "Force Majeure" (2014). Born and raised in Sweden, Kuhnke's gravitated towards the arts as a child. He was interested in both music and acting, and would eventually go on to make a career in both. With acting, Kuhnke got his start in the theater. In the 1990s he began appearing in numerous plays throughout Sweden, most notably classics like "The Three Musketeers" and "Cabaret." It was also during this time that Kuhnke began singing and playing guitar in the Swedish punk rock band Haag. With his stage-acting career on the rise, Kuhnke began picking up film and TV parts in the early 2000s. He appeared in films like "Inheritance" (2003), as well as on the Swedish TV mini-series "Solbacken: Avd. E" (SVT, 2003). Kuhnke shifted his time between stage and screen parts throughout the 2000s, before nabbing his first big role in 2012 on the Swedish sci-fi series "Real Humans" (SVT, 2012-14). Kuhnke played Rick on the series, which lasted for two seasons. Then in 2014 Kuhnke gained international recognition with his role in the gripping drama "Force Majeure." The film racked up numerous nominations, including a Golden Globe nod for Best Foreign Language Film, while exposing Kuhnke to a widespread international audience. From there, Kuhnke's acting career really began to take off, with recurring parts on the TV shows "112 Aina" (SVT, 2013-15) and "The Bridge" (SVT, 2011- ). In 2018 Kuhnke began appearing in "The Rain" (Netflix, 2018- ). The series, about a group of young people attempting to survive after toxic rain nearly wipes out all of humanity premiered on Netflix in the United States in the early summer of 2018. Kuhnke played Sten on the series.
