Maia Mitchell was an Australian actress who was best known for playing the role of Callie Jacob on the American television series "The Fosters" (Freeform, 2013- ). Born and raised in the New South Wales town of Lisbon, Mitchell's love of performance began when she was a toddler. She learned to sing and play the guitar at a very young age, and before long was appearing in local plays throughout her hometown. She soon caught the attention of a television casting agent, who subsequently cast Mitchell in the Australian children's show "Mortified" (Nine Network, 2006-07). The series ended after two seasons, but Mitchell continued landing series regular roles on numerous Australian TV shows like "Trapped" (Seven Network, 2008-09) and "Castaway" (Seven Network, 2010-11). With her acting career in Australia on the rise, Mitchell made the bold decision to try her luck at a Hollywood acting career. Luckily for her, she nabbed her first big role relatively quickly when she landed a starring role in the Disney Channel movie "Teen Beach" (2013). The success of that film put Mitchell on the radar of Hollywood casting agents, who began considering her for more film and TV roles based in the states. Her breakout TV role came in 2013 when she joined the cast of the Freeform series "The Fosters." Mitchell was cast as Callie Jacob on the show, which also starred David Lambert and Cierra Ramirez. In addition to her part on "The Fosters," Mitchell also appeared in the films "Teen Beach 2" (2015) and "Hot Summer Nights" (2017).
