Alienoid

The amazing thing is, as dorky and overstuffed as the plot tends to be—Alienoid is also often fast enough to keep pressing forward. What a rush&#59; what a headache.

The movie is bursting at the seams, as if Choi... was drunk on pure filmmaking pleasure and threw every cinematic genre into a gigantic blender.

"Alienoid" is a movie that definitely deserves a watch for its individual elements, particularly on the big screen, but does not make much sense as a whole.

One of the most bonkers movies of the year. A sci-fi spectacle filled with time travel, aliens, robots, and magical cats. It can get overwhelming at times, but is an overall entertaining over the top watch.

Alienoid can be a little too convoluted with plot developments that are jumbled into different timelines. However, this sci-fi adventure has plenty of orginal storytelling and interesting characters to keep viewers intrigued.

I’m not sure all those different parts all fit together very well, but the parts themselves are often a lot of fun, fast-moving and inventive.

Writer/director Choi Dong-hoon is comfortably at home with big, fast-moving tales populated by fun, shifty characters, and Alienoid is no different — aside from being his biggest film yet.

Overall, Alienoid is a fun ride with so much crammed in it that the almost 2.5 hours runtime doesn’t feel that long. It’s entertaining, it’s breathtaking in spots, and funny.

Choi’s dizzying fusion of genres and a nearly two-and-a-half-hour runtime may alienate some viewers, but those who allow themselves to be immersed in the movie will be rewarded with an amazing jumping-off point for part two.
